Death sentence sought for Talwars
Ghaziabad, Nov 26: Death sentence, maximum punishment in a murder case, has been sought for both Nupur and Rajesh Talwars. CBI court is expected to announce the quantum of punishment shortly in the Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case.

The doctor couple, parents of Aarushi, were convicted in the gruesome murder case. Rajesh has been found guilty under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender), 203 (giving false information in respect to an offence committed), 302 (murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), while his wife Nupur has been found guilty under Sections 201, 302 and 34.

Conviction under IPC Section 302 (murder) carries a minimum punishment of imprisonment for life and shall also be liable to fine while the maximum is death.

14-year-old Aarushi was found killed in the Jalvayu Vihar residence in Noida on May 16, 2008. A day later, Hemraj's body was found from the terrace of the house.
