New Delhi, Oct 12: Infamous Aarushi-Hemraj double murder has been making headlines in the country since 2008. Now, a Bollywood movie, Talvar, on the sensational murder case once again ignited the controversy.
It seems that Talvar moved people of the country. People started an online campaign for Aarushi's parents, Dr Rajesh and Nupur Talwar.
Talvar director Meghna Gulzar said that she received an online petition, a campaign to fast-track the Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case.
The case is pending in Allahabad High Court. The backlog in the court is at least 25-30 years. According to Meghna, Aarushi's parents would have already served two life terms if the case does not come for hearing in fast-track court.
Speaking about the impact of Talvar on people, the director of the movie also said, "Society has evolved. People go to watch a film for entertainment and here we were puncturing their opinion. But this did not happen and people also realised the wrong and the prejudice they had had."
14-year-old Aarushi was found dead inside their residence in Noida. A day after police found the body of their domestic help Hemraj in the same flat.
Later the probe was handed over to the investigative agency Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). In its closure report, CBI named Rajesh and Nupur as the only suspects in the case.
Based on the CBI closure report, court sent Aarushi's parents to jail. Now, both of them, doctors by profession, have been lodged in Dasna jail.
