Bureacrats facing the brunt of AAP-LG row: Delhi Govt locks Principal Secy Anindo Majumdar's office
New Delhi, May 18: In what could be understood as a part of the ongoing spat between Delhi Government and Lt Governor, the office of Principal Secretary (Services) Anindo Majumdar in Delhi Secretariat was locked on Monday.
The Arvind Kejriwal government had on Saturday transferred Majumdar, who issued the order of posting of Shakuntala Gamlin as acting Chief Secretary, on the direction of Lt Governor Najeeb Jung.
"Transfer and posting of officers under UT cadre and their work allocation comes under Delhi Government," Delhi Govt sources told ANI when asked on Anindo Majumdar's case.
"Anindo Majumdar bypassed all council of ministers, he is no more Secretary of Services," sources further told. [Principal Sec who issued Gamlin's posting order shifted]
LG, who is at loggerheads with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over Gamlin's appointment as Chief Secretary, had overturned the decision on Saturday evening saying that Majumdar's removal does not have his approval and declared it as void.
Commenting on LG's decision on Majumdar AAP government sources were quoted as saying, "The voiding of Anindo Majumdar's removal was not the LG's Jurisdiction." [Will keep a tab on Gamlin, Modi Govt trying to fail us, says CM Kejriwal]
The tussle between Kejriwal and Najeeb Jung over appointment of Shakuntala Gamlin intensified on Sunday with the AAP chief saying he will keep a tab on her and alleged that the Modi government at Centre wants his government to "fail".
Kejriwal while accusing the senior bureaucrat of favouring power companies said his government would ensure that every file to Gamlin's office over the next 10 days goes through him.
