AAP establishes internal committee based on Vishakha Guidelines
New Delhi, Jan 7: The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday announced their decision to establish a committee of three members, based on Vishakha Guidelines, to protect the rights of women within the party.

In their Twitter account, the young party announced they have become the first political party to establish such a committee.

The Vishakha guidelines were issued by Supreme Court to stop the harassment and exploitation of women in workplace.

The committee will be comprised of three members, Atishi Marlena, Preeti Sharma Menon and Lila Ramdas. Marlena and Menon are party workers while Lila Ramdas is an external member.

Marlena is an active social worker, while Preeti Sharma Menon has played a critical role in the Janlokpal movement. Lila Ramdas is wife of retired navy chief Admiral Ramdas. She is a well-known social worker and has been working on various women related issues.

AAP worker Dilip Pandey said at a press meet that the AAP is the only political party that has established this committee based on Vishakha guidelines. He said that the committee will resolve internal party issues related to discrimination against women or their exploitation.
