Jal Board
New Delhi, Jan 7:This is probably a major reshuffle within the Delhi Jal Board ever since its inception where 800 employees were transferred by the newly-formed government. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claims that the transfer was reportedly carried out to improve the service delivery process.

The AAP government said that the move was required to curb the corruption within the panel. Among the ones suspended are Vinod Kumar, patwari Sunil Kumar and meter reader Atul Prakash. The decision was taken after an alleged expose in a sting operation where the TV channel showed the trio demanding bribe to clear water for building construction and meter reading.

According to a report by The Economic Times, senior party leader and PWD, Urban Development Minister Manish Sisodia said,"By initiating action, we have tried to give out a strong and clear message to all officials that they have to understand that days of corruption are over and it is a governance of clean politics."

Suspended officials have been caught on tape demanding bribe.

However, an anti-corruption bureau has been asked to investigate the matter and cases will be filed against the trio if the expose is proved.

Recently, the Jal Board CEO was removed and then Debashree Mukherjee, Chief of Delhi Jal Board was transferred along with eight other IAS officers. Internal sources said that the transfer notices have been issued on the directions of the Delhi Jal Board chairperson Arvind Kejriwal.

All those officials who have worked for over three years in a particular place have been transferred to a different place," said a senior official from DJB.

In a recent move to relieve the Delhiites off water issues, the Arvind Kejriwal-led government decided to provide every household with 700 litres of free water daily.
