UP: 52 injured in Mahakoshal Express train accident
Eight coaches of Mahakoshal Express have derailed near Kulpahar in Uttar Pradesh. The accident site is 270 kilometres away from the Lucknow the capital of Uttar Pradesh. Four air conditioned and four general compartments were among the eight coaches that have derailed.

52 persons have been injured and are admitted to the Mahoba district hospital. Many others received minor injuries and have been given first aid.
The train was on its way to Delhi from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh when the incident occurred. The incident is said to have taken place at around 2 am on Thursday and the cause of the derailment is yet to be ascertained.
Rescue operations are underway. The district magistrate is at the spot overseeing rescue operations. Officials from the Railway police and the chief medical officer Sunil Kumar Vashnay is also present at the spot. Railway officials have operationalised helplines at Gwalior, Jhansi, Banda and Nizamuddin to disseminate information to relatives of the passengers.
