Srinagar, Dec 3: A paramilitary personnel was killed and six other people were injured in a grenade explosion on Wednesday in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Shamsher Singh of the 186 battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force was killed, and three paramilitary troopers, two policemen and a civilian were injured when militants hurled a grenade at a CRPF patrol party in Pahoo village.
The injured were taken to hospital for treatment, a police officer said.
Militants hurled a grenade at a party of security force personnel at around 5.30 pm in Pohu area wounding six, police said.
The militants escaped from the secene taking advantage of the panic caused by the blast.
No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
Pulwama is going to polls in the third phase of voting on December 9.
