46 Indian nurses in Iraq safe, says Iraq Red Crescent
"The nurses in Tikrit are safe, there is no threat. They are inside the hospital, " Iraq Red Crescent President Yaseen Ahmed Abbas said.
Reportedly, one of the nurses said that the militants have been asking them to leave the building which could be bombed down any moment.
Around 600 Indians have left Iraq after the conflict began. They were helped by the External Affairs Ministry. The spokes person of MEA said that they are processing the documentation of another 850 persons
The nurses who have taken refuge in the basement of their hospital after bombing and firing took place in the vicinity of the building are "safe and unharmed", said MEA spokes person on Wednesday.
Iraq is hit by violent-strife led by Sunni militants. Thousands of Iraqis have been displaced in the fighting that broke out on June 10.
