400 people affected by flood in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district
Jalpaiguri, July 1: Atleast four hundred people have been affected in Jalpaiguri district following release of excess water Teesta river after rains in upper reaches.
The affected areas are under Rajganj block of the district and people's houses have inundated since last night, the block's BDO T N Sherpa said.
The Dobaganj-Takhimari road has been flooded and the Jalpaiguri district administration is taking measures to provide relief to the affected people who are taking shelter in raised platforms.
There are reports of rise in water level of Tosra river in neighbouring Alipurduar district where an alert has been issued, the district administration has said.
