Indian agencies are verifying information which suggests that Aman Tandel, one of the four youth from Maharashtra who joined the ISIS is dead. Tandel along with four others had left Kalyan in Maharashtra for Syria last year.
A call received by one of the family members suggested that Tandel had died in an air strike. The caller the family suspects is of Turkish origin. The police were informed about this call and an investigation is now underway.
According to the caller Tandel had died in an air strike. It was an accident he reportedly told the family. He refused to divulge any further details. The National Investigation Agency which is handling the case relating to the four Kalyan youth will now seek a report from the local police regarding the same.
It may be recalled that Areeb Majeed who was one of the youth who joined the ISIS returned to India. He had said that he was given menial jobs to do and was treated shabbily as a result of which he returned to India.
Another youth, Fahad Shaikh who is in Syria had a few months called his parents and told them he was happy. I am happy doing Jihad he told his parents at Kalyan over phone. Shaikh during his conversation said that the other operative Shaheem Tanki was dead. He confirmed the news stating that Tanki had died in an air strike in Syria.
