New Delhi, Feb 13: After a chaotic parliament session, 17 MPs from Andhra Pradesh have been suspended by the speaker for unruly behaviour. A TDP MP Narayana Rao has been taken to hospital as he collapsed in Lok Sabha after apparently consuming something.

On Thursday, protesting over Telangana Bill, one MP from Andhra Pradesh used pepper spray and brandished knife at Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde who tabled the bill in Lok Sabha.

The House of the Parliament was adjourned as most of the MPs were hurt and were rushed to hospital as they felt uneasy as the pepper spray was used.

The MP, who used the spray, is the suspended Congress MP from Vijayawada -- L Rajagopal. which MPs from Seemandhara troop into the Well of the House trying to break Chairman's microphone. TDP MP Venugopal brandished knife in Parliament.

Expressing his grief over the shameful incident, Union Minister Kamal Nath said, "I would recommend to the Speaker strongest action against these MPs. I feel ashamed that such incident has taken place. This negates the fundamentals of our democracy."

Former Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee also said, "I feel sorry that this happened in a country like ours. This is totally unacceptable." Union Minister Rajiv Shukla said, "Strong action will be taken against erring MPs as it was an attempt to 'kill' members."

Meanwhile, in a major setback for Congress, three MLAs of the party from the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh resigned from the party showing their protest against Telangana bill.

Both Houses of the Parliament have been adjourned till noon on Thursday. This was the last session of this season ahead of the Lok Sabha election which is due by May 2014.
