11.30 pm or 4.30 pm? Did TN govt lie about Jayalalithaa's time of death?
Former Tamil Nadu chief minister O Panneerselvam did what was expected out of him on Wednesday when he dropped a bomb. Speaking during his day-long hunger strike demanding probe into Jayalalithaa's death, O Panneerselvam said that he was informed of Jayalalithaa's death at around 6.30 pm on December 5.
Panneerselvam also denied being part of the decision-making group that Apollo Hospital's discharge summary claimed to have taken a call on pulling the plug on Jayalalithaa. The same was released by the Tamil Nadu government on Monday to negate allegations levelled by Panneerselvam.
It may be noted that while an official press release from Apollo hospital on December 5, 2016, claimed Jayalalithaa's time of death to be 11.30 pm, O Panneerselvam on Wednesday claimed that he was informed of her death as early as 6.30 pm. In his speech, Panneerselvam said that Jayalalithaa had passed away by 4.30 pm, but he was informed by 6.30 pm and had no say in the medical procedures that she was undergoing.
