Uttarakhand Assembly election 2012
Uttarakhand will also join in the poll fray this year in the Assembly elections 2012 and will see parties fight it out for the 70 assembly seats of which 13 are reserved for SCs and 2 for STs. The elections is scheduled to be held on Jan 30, while counting will be conducted on Mar 6. The BJP hopes to score big under the able leadership of present CM BC Khanduri who has been lauded for his clean image and is more or less considered the trump card for the BJP. The main opposition, the Congress is also hoping to put up a good fight under Harak Singh Rawat's leadership. The rule by former Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal was infested with huge scams and corruption and will feature prominently as an election issue.
