Punjab Assembly Election
Five states are going to hold its crucial assembly election in the year 2012 and Punjab is one among them. The poll date has been scheduled on Jan 30 while election counting will be done on Mar 4.

According to sources, the state may experience a huge change in the political scenario following the election. Led by Parkash Singh Badal, Punjab currently being ruled by the alliance of the Shiromani Akali Dal and Bharatiya Janata Party.

Meanwhile, sources said that the main opposition party - Indian National Congress may contest the poll led by former Punjab Chief Minister, Amarinder Singh.

The main political parties, which aspire to reign in the state, are -

*INC = Indian National Congress,
*BJP = Bharatiya Janata Party,
*SAD = Shiromani Akali Dal
