Suicide: Actor Uday Kiran, a victim of caste politics in Tollywood?
While the cops have been waiting for Kiran's postmortem report to arrive, a section of Telugu film industry reportedly started discussing that Kiran had become a victim of caste politics in the South Indian cine world. Media reports said that people from the industry believe that Kiran was deliberately sidelined by the top stars and producers after his fabulous initial years.
Kiran belonged to Brahmins caste. People from the same caste accused other two castes -- Kamma and Kapu of playing politics in the industry. Kamma and Kapu, to which majority of Telugu heroes such as Chiranjeevi, Balakrishnan belong to, allegedly ruled the industry and do not allow others to build a successful film career.

However, Telugu Movie Artists Association President Murali Mohan overruled such reports. He, however, admitted to the importance of caste in the Telugu film industry.
Mohan was quoted as saying, "Till the Telugu movie industry was based in Chennai caste was not a factor but things have changed after it moved to Hyderabad."
Kiran shocked and impressed many with his successful debut in Tollywood. He was one among the youngest actors who got Filmfare Award. Later he apparently was depressed as he was not getting movie offers.
Kiran's wife Vishita first found his body hanging at their flat on Sunday night. He was rushed to Apollo Hospital at at Jubilee Hills where the actor was declared brought dead.
Kiran, after his historic debut in Tollywood, was engaged to actor-turn-politician Chiranjeevi's daughter. However, the marriage was called off due to some unknown reason(s). Later he tied the knot with his long-time friend Vishita.
