PM announces RS 1000 Cr relief for Odisha, AP
Earlier this day, a delegation led by Kira Kumar Reddy, chief minister of Andhra Pradesh had called on the Prime Minister and sought Centre's assistance for the losses suffered owing to cyclone Phailin and the subsequent heavy rains and floods in the state. He'd reportedly asked for Rs 6,400 crore.
The total quantum of assistance to the each state will be finalized after consideration of the on-the spot assessment report of the Inter-Ministerial Central Team.
In addition, prime minister sanctioned an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs.50,000/- each to the seriously injured persons from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.
