Congress seeking BJP's help to clear Telangana Bill?

New Delhi, Feb 8: The Congress has reportedly sought the support of the BJP to clear the Telangana Bill in the Parliament on February 12. The Union Cabinet cleared the draft bill on the contentious issue after a special meeting on Friday.

Senior leaders of the Congress Ahmed Patel and Digvijay Singh, who is in charge of Andhra Pradesh, met former BJP chief Venkaiah Naidu to get the latter's support for the bill, reports said on Saturday.

The bill has not made any provision to grant Union Territory status to Hyderabad despite quest made by Union ministr Pallam Raju. The city will remain a joint capital for 10 years.

The Congress-led UPA government is desperate to pass the bill in the ongoing session of the Parliament, the last of the 15th Lok Sabha.

The Congress leadership was reportedly considering to take action against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy who has opposed the bifurcation of the southern state.
