Vijaywada, Dec 17: A 'heroic' APSRTC bus driver's 'timely action' saved the lives of 20 passengers but he could not save himself in Vijaywada district of Andhra Pradesh.

The incident took place on Monday at Ramannagudem of Nuziveedu mandal when 35-year-old G Pamulu sacrificed his own life to save passengers' lives and thus averted a major tragedy.

According to a report, the bus number 208 was speeding at around 11.40 am but he managed to hit the brakes on time and bus slowed down as it collided with a tree.
