Kalyan lashed out at the Congress over the decision to divide Andhra Pradesh into Telangana and Seemandhra and said that he could support any party but the Congress. Speculation is rife that the Kalyan could support Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party in the upcoming Lok Sabha election beginning April 7.
Kalyan attacked Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on the question of marriage. He said Congress MP Hanumantha Rao had criticised him for marrying three times and gave the example of Rahul Gandhi who didn't marry even once. He said it was not right to make personal attacks and even asked whether Rahul Gandhi is a Brahmachari even if he is unmarried.
The actor also slammed senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh who is in charge of the party in Andhra Pradesh. He said Singh had asked him to merge his party with the Congress but he would not do it.
Kalyan said he is not against Telangana but the way the state was divided made him angry. He also criticised Kavita, the daughter of Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, over her questioning his stand on Telangana. He retaliated by asking what the TRS chief's daughter had done with the funds, contributions and accounts of her NGO.
Kalyan also said that it was emotionally difficult task to challenge his elder brother for whom he had campaigned five years ago. He said the Congress is responsible for him taking on his own brother, who is like a father figure to him.
