Cartoon: When NaMo mania gripped Paswan ahead of 2014 election
Leaving all hurt feeling behind, Ram Vilas Paswan re-joined NDA forming alliance with BJP on seat-sharing basis in Bihar ahead of the Lok Sabha election which is due by May 2014.
Paswan, who had broken LJP-BJP alliance protesting against Modi and his alleged role in 2002 Gujarat riots, amused many with his latest move. He re-joined NDA at a time when Modi has been announced the prime ministerial candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
It is believed that BJP moved ahead and accepted the alliance with LJP because it wants to weaken JD(U) leader and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar in the state. It is believed that BJP-LJP alliance in Bihar will get them good vote share in upcoming general election.
Twelve years after LJP quit NDA over Gujarat riots, it will fight seven out of the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar under a seat-sharing deal with BJP. A beaming BJP President Rajnath Singh made this announcement at a news conference at his residence after another round of hectic parleys by the leaders of the two parties on seat-sharing in Bihar ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Singh said the BJP will contest the remaining 33 seats in Bihar.
