In Pics: Assam reeling under floods, thousands displaced
Guwahati, July 23: Several districts in Assam are reeling under floods due to heavy rainfall and overflowing rivers. As many as 84,000 people have been affected.
Meanwhile, the Army has been called in to carry out rescue operations in the state.
The affected districts are Lakhimpur, Golaghat, Morigaon, Jorhat, Dhemaji, Sivasagar, Kokrajhar, Barpeta and Bongaigain where 464 villages are affected by the swirling flood waters.
The Army sent four teams to the Khungring area of Chirang, where 30 people were rescued from their village.
