Assam: 3rd NDFB(S) militant nabbed in 4 days
The encounter happened early in the morning when the police tried to stop a group of five militants travelling in motorcycles. Police sources said the militants first opened fire when the policemen tried to stop them. The police counter fired and an encounter followed. Four militants managed to flee but an injured Rajbongshi could not. The vehicles were also seized, a Times of India report said.
Police said many youth from the area had joined the Bodo militant outfit under the guidance of Ratan, who headed the gang which ran into the police on Monday. Police was they were looking for Ratan, the ToI report added.
Later, police said the members of the gang were originally involved in crimes like bike lifting who later joined the militant outfit. Police arrested another NDFB(S) militant from Chirang district on Saturday night.
On Friday also, an NDFB(S) militant, Debo Basumatary, was nabbed from Gohpur in Sonitpur district. He was involved in the October 24 grenade attack at Itakhola town in the district during Diwali celebrations leading to the injury of five persons.
