According to the report, BJP MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa said a campaign to drive out the illegal migrants from Bangladesh would begin from his constituency Jorhat within the next fortnight. He said the campaign would be initiated by the youth wing of the party and also added that a house-to-house campaign would also be conducted. People would be asked not to engage with the immigrants in any way, Tasa said.

He said the decision to remove the illegal migrants was taken at a meeting of the office bearers which was presided over by the Union minister of state-Independent Charge for Sports & Youth Affairs, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Sarbananda Sonowal.

Sonowal, the chief of Assam BJP, said he had a meeting with Kiren Rijiju, the Minister of State for Home Affairs about removing the illegal immigrants from the state, the report said
The minister also said the meeting was deliberately held in Kaziranga to send a strong message to illegal immigrants who are accused of encroaching the park.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had raised the issue of illegal immigration from Bangladesh during his campaigning in the northeast and border states like West Bengal and vowed to put an end to the flow.
