'Dressing' up for the elections, politicians make style statements
New Delhi, April 3: The plain white kurta pajama in politics has given way to colourful attires these days, sometimes marking a trend that is adopted by one and all.
While some of these have been adopted unconsciously (note Kejriwal's muffler with topi), others have been customised to stand apart from the crowd. Indian democracy allows numerous parties, and thanks to them that we can treat our eyes with some colour.
Take the instance of the latest entrant in the political diaspora-Rakhi Sawant. Primarily an actress in Bollywood, she has brought not just entertainment to politics, but also colour. Her all-green attire and geeky glasses sees her in an all-new avatar for her Rashtriya Aam Party.
The green overall may not be adopted by the public, but it surely creates a 'Rakhi Sawant' brand.
How can we forget Rahul Gandhi's half jacket (remember, not the khadi jackets worn by politicians) on his squeaky white kurta pajama that has been well-received by the youngsters of the country.
Modi's colourful kurtas (minus the lotus inscription on the left) has taken the market by a rave. In fact, Many textile shops in Gujarat are selling these kurtas to Modi enthusiasts.
Interestingly, a pair of jeans and casual top has also given the upcoming elections a 'casual' feel. Monica Bedi, who is campaigning for Congress candidate Acharaya Pramod Krishnam in Sambal, was seen spotting one.
