Latest in the lists is that Prime Minister has announced that he will not celebrate this Diwali at his own home but instead on that day he will be with the flood victims of the Jammu and Kashmir. Perhaps the motive is that his warm touch will lessen down their cup of woes, inflicted from recent flood in the State.
Flood victims excited
"Will be in Srinagar on Diwali, 23d October & will spend the day with our sisters & brothers affected by the unfortunate floods," Modi had tweeted on Tuesday. Notably, he took this decision only two days after the BJP got thumping victory in Assembly election in two States, Maharashtra and Haryana .
The flood victims are excited about this planned visit of Prime Minister and are pinning hope that it will not only be a symbolic visit, but some tangible efforts will also be taken to help them. "We are hopeful that the Prime Minister, who has decided to spend Diwali in Srinagar, will announce a good package for the flood victims so that we can start picking up the threads of life again," Ghulam Ahmad, one of victim who rendered homeless by the natural calamity said.
Big blow to so called well-wishers of valley people, separatists
State parties, national conference and peoples Democratic Party (PDP) heaped praise on Modi for his deep concern for the people of the valley. Though the latter took swipe at Prime Minister saying that it would have been very thoughtful if he had decided to be in Srinagar for Eid also.
Though later the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah slammed the PDP for not appreciating something which is in the interest of the country. On Tuesday Hardline Hurriyat Conference leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani accused BJP of using the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir as a delaying tactic for providing relief to the flood-affected state for electoral gains.
"The rulers of India have nothing to do with the miseries and suffering of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. They only want land of Kashmir and they can go to any extent," he said.
He said that even it is proved now that they did nothing to give helping hand to flood victims of valley people.
Separatists sat in their comfy home leaving people at mercy of god at that time. These separatists who always pretend that they are the real well wishers of Kashmiri people didn't even come out from their homes and left common people in lurch.
Not even a single leaders from the All Party Hurriyat Conference, the umbrella body of the Kashmiri separatists was seen in action. Similarly people of valley also raised finger about other leader JKLF Chief Yasin Malik who was cooling his head in Delhi at that time. Despite this, they are pointing finger at Modi Government who got applaud from every quarters for his selfless effort in the direction of relief operations.
Assembly election on mind?
It is being said that Modi has Assembly election in mind that is why he has planned his visit to the valley. Though there is nothing wrong in that. The election is open game and anybody could participate in that.
But only the party which will address the concern of the people will get the mandate. Why NC, Congress and so called separatists not did enough to gain sympathy of valley people. National conference has his government in the state but then why it let allow BJP to set its foot in the state.
The BJP wants to address the problems of valley and hence expects people to give them the mandate, so what is wrong with that.
On Tuesday, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor slammed the move of prime Minister saying that he has taken that decision keeping election in mind. Even naïve will predict that he will criticise every move of Modi now as he has been pulled up hard by party high command for heaping praise on PM in past. Tharoor must know that his own party colleagues Digvijay Singh and Gulam Nabi Azad had applauded Modi earlier.
BJP wants to consolidate its position in valley as it has upper hand in Jammu and ladakh region. The State election will be real test of BJP president Amit shah.
A big message to Pakistan
Narendra Modi through his visit has given clear message to Pakistan that Kashmir is very much part of the India. We are concerned about them. Modi's message to our neighbor country is that the people of the state are our own child and we can't leave them in lurch. In any mishap and calamity, we are with them. Their agony, sadness make us the same. We will go to any length to bring back smile on their faces.
India wants to win the confidence of the people of the State unlike Pakistan who wants to forcefully do the act. That is why they encourage terrorism in the state in implicit manner. The Indian Prime minister Modi has given the message loud and clear that times have changed now in India and Kashmir is an integral part of us.
