Bangalore, Nov 7: As the entire nation gears up for the Assembly elections, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry met with Israel's President Shimon Peres in Jerusalem.

Kerry waded again into the nitty-gritty of faltering Israeli-Palestinian peace talks on Wednesday, saying that he was optimistic that tensions and difficulties between the two countries could be overcome, even between "two proud people" struggling to reach an accommodation.

Meanwhile, The Soyuz-FG rocket took off at the Russian leased Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The rocket carried the Olympic flame ahead of the Sochi 2014 Winter Games.
