In Pics: Multi faith prayer held at Lotus Temple for APJ Abdul Kalam

People from several religious backgrounds and section of the of society attended a multi faith prayer service at New Delhi's Baha'i House of Worship, commonly known as Lotus Temple.

Special prayers from the sacred scriptures of different religions including Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Buddhism and the Baha'i faith were recited for the progress of Dr Kalam's soul.

Ms Nazneen Rowhani, Secretary General of National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of India recalled that Dr. Kalam, also known as Missile Man, visited the Lotus Temple on more than one occasion.

The Lotus Temple is located in southern part of Delhi is a Bahá'í House of Worship. Designed by Fariborz Sahba it was completed in 1986.

The structure is notable for its flowerlike shape and serves as the Mother Temple of the Indian subcontinent of Baha'is. It has also become a prominent attraction in the city.

Dr Kalam passed away on July 27, 2015 while he was in Shillong to give a lecture at IIT Shillong. Entire nation paid its tribute to the People's President.

Speaking at a public gathering at the Temple in March 2011, Dr. Kalam had said, "...when I am inside the environment of this beautiful Baha'i Temple, I see everywhere around me harmony of thought, harmony in action and harmony in every way of life..."
