OneIndia Exclusive on BBMP polls: Former constable, J M Savitha says education is her priority

Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) elections campaigning is on full swing.

On Wednesday, Aug 12, JM Savitha who recently quit her job of a constable to participate in BBMP polls on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket from 156-Srinagar ward is ready to plunge into political field.

35-year-old JM Savitha had an exclusive chat with OneIndia. Here are the excerpts:

When asked about who inspired her to enter politics, she said that she is inspired by her father, C Mayanna, who has been associated with the BJP since past 20 years.

While praising her father, she said that she wants to retain BJP in power.

On being asked about her poll agenda, she said that her main focus will be on education, water issues and garbage. [BBMP elections: Female constable resigns, jumps into poll fray on BJP ticket]

"Education is 'more compulsory and more mandatory', as there is no school in Srinagar for higher studies. There are schools till Class 8th only", she said.

In case, if she fails to win election, she said that she will still be associated with the BJP and will continue to work for the party.

In a special message to voters, she concluded saying that "people are quite intelligent. They know well for whom to vote and they should not go after money, but they should vote with their minds."

Savitha filed her nomination on Aug 10 and is confident about her victory.

Srinagar is an area, with an approximate 36,982 population.

Females: 17252

It comes under Basavanagudi assembly constituency and Bangalore South Parliamentary Constituency.
