Patna, Nov 8: Chhath is a very big festival in eastern India and it is celebrated with great fervour and it goes on for four days. The festival is performed in order to thank lord Sun, who is considered the god of energy. Sun is worshiped to promote well-being, prosperity and progress.
Chhath Puja also called 'Dala Puja'.It is popular in the North and Eastern Indian states of Bihar and UP.
During the festival, devotees observe fast and make offerings to the Sun God near a pond or sea.
