It is a matter of concern for the BJP which had bagged all seven LS seats from the national capital.
It seems complacency and over confidence has seeped in the minds of BJP's Delhi unit as the party's door-to-door campaigning has suddenly stopped. Unlike its opponents, the party workers are hardly active in raising problems of the people. The state unit, in order to address bigger issues that the national capital is facing, is slowly losing connect with the voters in the state.

Situation alarming for BJP

It is a matter of concern for the BJP, which had bagged all seven LS seats from the national capital, as the party is eyeing to come to power in the capital state. But, the party's leadership has not yet cleared its future course of action. The party's workers are losing connect with the voters as they are waiting for orders from the party's leadership. They are also waiting for the changes in the state unit to take effect.

After taking charge as new chief of the Delhi unit, Satish Upadhyay had demanded a new team to lead different units of the party. But, the party hasn't zeroed in on any names so far. Upadhyay too seems to be banking heavily over party's central leadership and has therefore not directed the cadres to start campaigning.

The party's state unit either seems to be is sitting as if it doesn't wants re-polls in Delhi or it is too confident about winning if re-poll happens. Both the Congress and AAP have already started campaigning in Delhi. But as per Upadhyay the BJP, which is in power at the Centre, was not supposed to follow what other parties are doing.

As per a Hindustan Times report, Upadhyay has said, "We are not in the opposition so we don't need to do all this (campaigning). We believe in delivery and good governance."

But, everyone in the party is not of the same view and wants the party to direct its MLAs on the campaign strategy.

A senior BJP leader was quoted in the report as saying, "the decision on unauthorised colonies, KMP expressway and other issues will not last long in public memory if the party doesn't tell voters through campaigning."

It is a matter of concern for the BJP which bagged all 7 LS seats in Delhi

Then there are its opponents Congress and AAP who are constantly accusing the BJP of lacking the will to go for a re-polls in the national capital as the party fears losing due to negative sentiments in the voters' minds against them. Both the parties have been leveling charges against the BJP for luring their MLAs to join them to escape a re-poll.

These accusations may not be true but such allegations and early campaigning will definitely help the BJP's opponents gain people's support and that would eventually translate into votes.

Slow development work under President's rule in Delhi

Opposition Congress is constantly raising the issue that people of Delhi are paying the price of President's rule as almost every major development work in the state has come to a standstill. The Congress has also raised the issue of frequent power cuts and inflated electricity bills affecting the Delhiites.

The development work of unauthorized colonies in the national capital has also stopped. Work on the monorail project has also come to a halt. These

Hence, it is high time the BJP's Delhi wakes up from its slumber and realizes the importance campaigning. At least the party should resume its door-to-door campaign as it will maintain connect between the party and its voters.
