Although the main aim behind distributing laptops to UP students is to keep them abreast of technology and at par with other urban students in knowledge, but, in the present scenario, we all know that, today's generation is aping western culture, at a much faster pace.
The present generation know that, in the age of internet, everything is accessible with a click of a mouse and all their queries and curiosities are solved in an iota of a second!
If not utilised properly, too much exposure to internet world, among students and teenagers can give rise to their addiction towards pornography, which, can further lead to committing of sexual crimes.
Surprisingly, none of the courses (B.Sc., B.Com, B.A.) in the universities of Uttar Pradesh requires students to make projects that require use of computers. There are around 80% of students in UP who do not attend regular classes after completing their intermediate. So, will these 'free' laptops serve any good purpose for such students?
The answer is most probably NO. Yes, because, in the highly advanced and technological era, anyone can buy a cheap sim card worth Rs 30 and an internet package connection in just Rs 99. So, the chances of students getting aligned towards pornography and downloading adult movies are very high and why not when they have an easy access to it, without any software to block such content.
