Dehradun, Feb 28: Uttarakhand MLA, Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion's wife has kicked off controversy by wearing a 'leopard' skin coat.

According to reports, Khanpur MLA from Haridwar district, Singh's wife, Devyani Singh has been booked by the police for owning and wearing a leopard skin coat.

The Pioneer report said that the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau recently sent a letter to the chief wildlife warden with a visual of the Facebook post in which the MLA claimed that the coat was made from the pelt of a leopard killed by his family member.

In January this year, Devyani Singh was seen wearing the leopard skin coat in a Vidhan Sabha session and she had said the coat was not made from original leopard skin.

MLA Pranav Singh is also new to controversies. In September 2013, he had opened fire at the residence of state Agriculture Minister Harak Singh Rawat during a party leaving two persons, including a party leader, injured.

Earlier, Singh has also served as the chairman of the Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation.
