BJP says it is confident of a win in Pauri LS seat

Dehradun, Apr 8: With Congress yet to field a candidate against Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri in Pauri, BJP on Tuesday said it was confident of wresting the prestigious Lok Sabha seat from the ruling party with a huge margin.

"No matter whom Congress fields from Pauri, our victory from the seat is a foregone conclusion. Khanduri is a tall leader whose achievements as a chief minister and as a Union minister in Vajpayee government are etched in public memory," Pradesh BJP media incharge Umesh Aggarwal said.

"No Congress leader in the state is in a position to give him a fight in Pauri. We are all set to win with a huge margin," he said.

Jolted by sitting MP from Pauri Satpal Maharaj's sudden defection to BJP, Congress is yet to make up its mind about whom to field from the seat.

Three names are doing the rounds as possible challengers to Khanduri including Gambhir Singh Negi and state ministers S S Negi and Harak Singh Rawat but the party high command is yet to make an announcement in this regard.

Khanduri is a four-time winner from the seat.
