Cartoon of the Day: Rise and say 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'

The slogan 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' has become a 'cuss' word in many quarters, given the political colour it is being bestowed with. While the Hindu make it the litmus test to prove one's nationalism, the Muslims consider it as eulogising a Hindu goddess.

Rise and say 'Bharat Mata ki Jay'

Ironically, the 'believers' of Indian tradition have forgotten that the slogan is a unifying entity that had once united the entire nation against the Britishers. 'Bharat Mata' is a concept, an allegory that freedom fighters like Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad and Bhagat Singh (believers in different religions) chanted during the freedom struggle.

Incidentally, it is now being used by Baba Ramdev to test the nationality of the Indians! As if their nationality can only be proved by the slogan. Search for the truth within, Baba, and not by what people say.
