Will she, Won’t she? AIADMK urges Sasikala to lead party
Earlier, spokesperson Ponnaiyan had defended Sasikala, and now the party has firmly stated its view on her as their next leader.
The AIADMK on Saturday made clear its intention of having Jayalalithaa's close aide Sasikala Natarajan as its next leader. The party took to Twitter to announce that senior functionaries have 'urged Sasikala to lead the party on the path shown by Jayalalithaa'. This is their first and official stand on the issue post Jayalalithaa's demise.
The message is clearly the result of series of meetings between senior leaders of the party and Sasikala at the Poes Garden residence.

Sasikala is credited with managing party decisions in the face of Jayalalithaa's failing health. She is also credited with making O Panneerselvam the chief minister within minutes of the leader's death, a move that was considered a masterstroke to curb dissent later on.
