Chennai, March 7: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has appointed more than 720 officials for her party's IT wing to lead the party's campaigning on social media platforms ahead of the May 16 Assembly elections.
On Sunday, apart from 14 state-level officials, six were appointed to push the total number of office-bearers to 720. They comprise data analysts, PhD-degree and diploma-holders in IT.
Sources said every district will have a 14-member IT wing for micro campaigning through the social media, a News Minute report said.
The IT wing had on January 1 informed about its new campaigning platform called WhatsApp Bench to counter allegations raised by opposition parties.
This app clarifies charges made by opposition parties through audio clips. Over 100 audio clips have been released over the last three months.
