Swathi murder case: Chennai Police to conduct Identification prade on July 11

Chennai, July 10: In a fresh development in S Swathi murder case, Chennai police will conduct an identification parade of the prime accused Ram Kumar at Puzhal central prison on Monday, July 11.

According to reports, the prime witness of the case will identify Ram Kumar from among group of prisoners in jail.


Police arrested Ram Kumar by following the details about the suspect from the eye-witness and with the help of CCTV footages just after the crime.

Ram Kumar was arrested in dramatic way on (July 1) by slitting his neck in order to evade arrest, when police surrounded him at his house in Meenakshipuram near Shencottah in Tirunelveli district. [Swathi murder probe: Killer does U-turn]

He allegedly murdered the 24-year-old Infosys IT professional Swathi in broad daylight on June 24 at Nungambakkam railway station in Chennai and later was absconding.

He was taken to Tirunelveli Medical College hospital and treated for his wounds and later brought to jail after monitoring progress of his condition.

Ram Kumar's bail plea hearing was adjourned by the Chennai High Court to July 15th. His advocate has filed a bail petition which states that police had foisted the case against him.

In order to get bail, Ram Kumar also took u-turn and claimed that he did not kill Swathi, nor did he attempt to slit his throat and alleged that some persons who accompanied the police during his arrest had assaulted him with a blade and cooked-up the whole suicide story.
