Despite O Panneerselvam being the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Sri Lankan government has chosen to write an official communication to Sasikala. The official communication has been sent to BJP MP Pon Radhakrishnan and Sasikala. The highlight of the letter is that it has been addressed to Sasikala an extra constitutional authority instead of Panneerselvam the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Sri Lankan President, Maithripala Sirisena as well as an MP, Arumugan Thondaman, have written to Sasikala informing her about their decision to allow 100 fishermen to take part in the Consecration Ceremony at Sri Lanka's St Anthony's Church.

The official letter has raised eyebrows in some circles. Some have asked why this official communication was sent out to Sasikala instead of O Panneerselvam.
