It should be noted that during recent election campaigns, Khushboo had appealed voters in Coimbatore to vote for DMK while speaking in Hindi- a language that DMK staunchly opposes.
The party's patriarch, M Karunanidhi had retaliated saying, as per a news report, "The youth should voice their strong opposition considering the fact that I am against Hindi. The Hindi language should not enter the State. We have to teach Narendra Modi that here is no work for him here. Neither Modi nor any other person can enter Tamil Nadu."
In 2013, she had incurred the wrath of Stalin loyalists after a Tamil magazine Vigatan published her interview in which she told the weekly that Karunanidhi's successor is still to be decided.
In 2011, Khushboo, who always remain at the centre of controversies, was arrested in Tamil Nadu for violating the election norms set by the election commission.
Khushboo, a popular south Indian actress joined DMK in 2010.
Khushboo was a star campaigner in DMK and her fans had even built a temple for her in Permabalur district at the height of her career a few years ago.
Earlier, Khushboo was confronted with a huge controversy when she got involved in a defamation case over her remarks supporting pre-marital sex.
