Chennai, June 4: Social media not only plays an important role in bridging the gap among distant family members and friends, but off late it has emerged as a major tool in reuniting some missing people with their family members.
Recently, a missing man from Madurai had a reunion with his family with the help of OneIndia Tamil Facebook post.
When OneIndia Tamil's reporter found the pic of the mentally challenged man roaming near a bus stand in Udangudi town in Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu, he posted his pic along with the details at the news portal's official Facebook page, thinking that the man may be reunited with his family.
Since OneIndia Tamil Facebook page has over 7 lakh followers, the pic of the man went viral. The post got 69 shares and 75 likes.
Luckily, a Tamilian living in Singapore saw the post and found out that the same man was his relative.
Then, he immediately called his family members and told them that Kannan was found in Udangudi in Thoothukudi.
It has been learnt that Kannan, worked as a weaver and he has two children and his wife's name is Laxmi. He recently became mentally challenged, due to some unknown reasons. Kannan is a native of Vandiyur, Madurai.
After getting the information about Kannan, his family members rushed to meet him and take him back to home.
