Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's treasurer M K Stalin on Monday said that Dr M Karunanidhi will be discharged in two days. Stalin said that the party chief's health had improved greatly and he is likely to return home in a couple of days. M Karunanidhi was being treated for lung infection and breathing related issues in Kauvery Hospital of Chennai.
Karunanidhi was rushed to the private hospital on the night of December 15 after he complained of breathlessness. The hospital had said that he suffered from a throat and lung infection. After observation, the 92-year-old leader had undergone a Tracheostomy procedure to help him breath. This is the second time in a month that the leader was hospitalised.
A hospital release had stated that Karunanidhi was being attended to by a team of specialists and was being monitored closely. The leader was on antibiotics to help counter infections. The news of his discharge comes as a great relief to the party that had postponed its general body meet scheduled on December 20 due to his health.
