Cyclone Vardah: Tamil Nadu seeks Rs 1,000 crore from centre
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister in a letter to PM Modi has asked for assistance from the centre while thanking him for timely response during Cyclone Vardah
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Tuesday sought a relief package of Rs 1,000 crore from the centre. The CM in his letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought the centre's help.

The TN CM also appealed for a special team to be deputed to study the damages caused by the cyclone. O Panneerselvam has also requested an urgent sanction of Rs 1,000 crore from the National Disaster Management Fund.
TN CM in his letter has given out official statistics on the extent of damage caused due to cyclonic storm Vardah. Over 15,000 people have been evacuated from vulnerable locations to 104 relief camps stocked with drinking water, food, medicines and essential goods. The letter claims that the cyclone has caused unprecedented damage to infrastructure and properties.
