The Union Home Ministry is keeping a close watch on the law and order situation in Tamil Nadu following news of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa suffering a cardiac arrest. The situation has been calm so far across the state but caution has been the word for both the State as well as centre governments.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh has been in constant touch with in-charge Governor Vidhya Sagar Rao since Sunday night. All police personnel have been recalled to duty by orders of Tamil Nadu DGP Rajendran. Additional security measures have been taken in areas marked as sensitive. Police personnel have been deployed in border areas of all neighouring states. Heightened police presence was felt outside Apollo Hospital where the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
9 companies of Rapid Action Force of CRPF are on stand by to be moved immediately in case of an emergency. The state as well as the central government are cautious in view of earlier instances of frenzy and riots following leaders' death in Tamil Nadu
Team of doctors from AIIMS arrive
A team of 4 specialists from AIIMS arrived at Apollo hospital on Monday morning. The team of AIIMS doctors include pulmonologist Dr GC Khilnani, anaesthetist Dr Anjan Trikha, Cardiac surgeon Dr Sachin Talwar and cardiologist Dr Rajiv Narang are currently in Apollo hospital to assist in treatment of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
