Is it a son meeting his ailing father or ousted partyman making a comeback? This seems to be the question on DMK party workers' minds. M K Alagiri met DMK supremo M Karunanidhi on Saturday, the third such visit in 2 weeks fuelling rumours of him making a comeback into the party.

The visits come at the time when the party is being spearheaded by M K Stalin single-handedly. DMK's supremo M Karunanidhi had also declared Stalin as his undisputed political heir. Alalgiri's recent warming up to Karunanidhi had made Stalin supporters aprrehensive of his return to the party.
Alagiri's frequent visits also come at a time when the party is gearing up for by-polls in 3 constituencies in Tamil Nadu. If Alagiri is back, party workers feel that there will once again be dual power centers and things will return to as they were before Karunanidhi ousted him from the party for indicipline in 2014.

While Alagiri is distancing himself from rumours of his return to the party, DMK leaders have also chosen to remain mum on the issue. For a month now DMK's Chief M Karunanidhi has been confined to his house with health issues.
