All you need to know about Haryana's newly elected CM Manohar Lal Khattar

ML Khattar named as Haryana CM
Chandigarh, Oct 21: Haryana on Tuesday got its first non-Jat CM in 18 years as BJP MLA Manohar Lal Khattar was named the CM. Following the poll observer meeting in the state headed by Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu, Khattar was named the Haryana CM.

Khattar on Sunday, Oct 26 took oath as the new Chief Minister of Haryana. He thanked everyone who attended his swearing-in ceremony.

Name: Manohar Lal Khattar

Age: 60 years

Education Qualification: Graduate from Delhi University

Haryana Aseembly election performance: Khattar won the Karnal assembly seat by 63,736 votes.

Khattar has been a prominent RSS pracharak and also a close aide of Narendra Modi. He wokred for the RSS for 14 years following which he joined the BJP.

He was also the Chairperson of the BJP's election campaign committee during the Lok Sabha polls and worked with Narendra Modi during that period.

Khattar also happens to be the first non-Jat CM in 18 years. Khattar belongs to an agricultural background. He beat other frontrunners for the CM post including Captain Abhimanyu, Ram Bilas Sharma, Anil Vij, Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh and former MP Chaudhary Birender Singh.
