Bhubaneshwar, Aug 5: The Odisha government on Friday suggested RBI to make its portal, sachet.rbi.org.in, available in vernacular languages for the benefit of the people of different regions of the country.

"We have suggested RBI to make the website available in vernacular languages so that people of various regions could take maximum benefit out of it," Odisha's Development Commissioner Balakrishnan said.

Balakrishnan said this after participating in the video conference marking inauguration of the portal 'Sachet' by RBI governor Raghuram Rajan today.

Odisha Chief Secretary A P Padhi and Special DG Crime BK Sharma also took part in the inauguration function through a video conferencing.

Balakrishnan said the RBI portal would be helpful for the regulators in quick follow up of the unlawful money collection activities. It would also enable people get information regarding the financial entities that are allowed to accept the deposits.

People will get the space to lodge complaints and share information regarding illegal collection of deposits by unscrupulous entities in their areas.

"Odisha has taken up a number of awareness building and enforcement activities to curb illegal money collection.

All districts have been provided Rs 1 lakh each for intensifying awareness activities at village and panchayat levels," Balakrishnan said.
