MP polls: Kailash Vijayvargiya ready to work with norms of EC
According to a report, Vijayvargiya on Thursday said that he is "ready to work in accordance with the norms of the poll body".
He also said that he would reply to the notice issued by the EC by this Friday.
He told reporters, "I have not seen the notice. I will work in accordance with the norms of the Election Commission. I will speak to my lawyer and send a reply to the Election Commission by 5.00 pm October 18."
The model code of conduct was in force in Madhya Pradesh since October 4.
Taking cognisance of his criticism of the model code at a programme of Rajput Sabha in Bhopal on October 14, the EC said that by doing so he has shown "utter disrespect and disregard" to the provisions of the code and asked him to reply by October 18.
Vijayvargiya has been asked to explain by tomorrow as to why action should not be taken against him for his conduct.
The model code of conduct was in force in Madhya Pradesh since October 4, after the announcement of assembly polls in the five states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Delhi and Mizoram.
Yesterday, the opposition Congress in Madhya Pradesh moved Election Commission seeking "appropriate" action against Kailash Vijayvargiya.
