Mourning processions taken out across MP on Muharram

Bhopal, Nov 15: Muharram (Yom-e-Aashurah) the 10th day of the first Islamic month marking the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, grandson of Prophet Mohammad was observed all over Madhya Pradesh on Friday.

Mourning processions with a large number of Tazias and Alams were taken out on the streets of major cities including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Ujjain in the memory of Hussain, who was killed by Yazeed, a corrupt ruler in the Arab world on this day.

All India Muslim Teohar Committee Chairman, Ausaf Shahmiri Khurram said that Yazeed wanted Hussain's support to rule the whole of Arab with his evil designs but following Imam's refusal he started harassing him and finally on this day Imam Hussain was killed and he attained martyrdom.

More than 850 Tazias and Alams were taken out through major streets.

Khurram said that in Bhopal, more than 850 (big and small) Tazias and Alams were taken out through major streets and finally they converged at the Karbala at the Bhopal's famous Upper lake before immersion.

Elaborate security arrangements were made at different places in the city as a precautionary measure and the event passed off peacefully with no report of any untoward incident from the state so far.
