Bengaluru, May 6: In an attempt to protect, preserve and promote Bengaluru's treasures, United Way Bengaluru is all set to hold a fund-raising marathon at Nandi Hills.
"Nandi Hillathon" will be organised on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 7 am and the activities will include Walkathon and Marathon.
To participate in the noble event, the registration fee is kept at Rs 500 per person out of which Rs 50 will go towards restoring Bio-Diversity at Nandi Hills and the balance amount Rs 450 will be given back to the Residents' Welfare Association (RWA) to improve their neighbourhood.
This citywide fund-raiser would be different from any other runs being done in the city because of the following reasons:
- Every rupee that is raised by the RWA is going back to the community.
- This is an annual city wide fund-raiser event which will be anchored by United Way to encourage RWAs to raises resources for their neighbourhood without any efforts of their own - money and time.
- Other runs undertaken in the city are for specific causes, no citywide fund-raiser has ever been organised to improve neighbourhoods.
The objective of this event is to raise resources for Nandi Hills to restore its past glory and to encourage communities and associations to raise money for any improvement work that they would like to undertake in their neighbourhood.
The target is to involve ten thousand people for the first run. United Way Bengaluru will raise funds through donations to organise this event.
