Bengaluru, Jan 6: Former Union minister Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Tuesday said in a Facebook post that he was stunned to hear that the Delhi Police had filed a case of murder against unknown persons in connection to the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar. "Needless to say I am anxious to see this case is investigated thoroughly and continue to assure the Police of my full co-operation. Although we never thought of any foul play in the death of my wife, we all want that a comprehensive investigation be conducted and that the unvarnished truth should come out," Tharoor said in the statement. Tharoor, an MP from Thiruvananthapuram, said he would join all members of his late wife's family in seeking full information about the basis on which the police arrived at such a conclusion. He also said that they were not provided with any copies of the reports of the post-mortem and other inquiry and requested to get a copy of these reports.
Pushkar's murder was confirmed by the Delhi Police on Tuesday soon after registering a murder case against unknown persons. The case was registered under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi said the case was registered after the medical board report said that it is a case of unnatural death.
Bassi added that the samples collected after Pushkar's death will be sent abroad for further tests. A special team has also been formed to investigate the case.
Fifty-two-year-old Pushkar was found dead in a luxurious hotel here in the night of January 17 last year.
Pushkar married Tharoor,a former diplomat, in 2010.
